I grew up in Manchester, Connecticut and spent much of my childhood outdoors. My parents took my two sisters and I on hiking trips in the White Mountains, and countless ski trips to places like Vermont, Maine, Colorado and Switzerland. Every summer we spent two weeks vacationing in Wellfleet, Cape Cod where they would later buy a family beach house. Although my parents claim to have no artistic talents themselves, they always encouraged and nurtured ours. We went to the theater, we visited museums, we travelled abroad. I took many art classes, and in high school I took a black and white film photography class which planted a seed that would sprout many years later into a love and a career.
Fast forward through college and seven years working in the finance industry. I met and married my husband Taylor and bought my first DSLR camera to take on our honeymoon to Italy and Greece. After that photography quickly became an obsession, and ultimately a career. I started my business Brave Hearts Photography doing documentary family and wedding work. In my free time I love to photograph the places I know – the mountains and beaches from my childhood – as well as adventures to places I have yet to discover. Which brings me to my newest and greatest adventure, having my son Cameron. Seeing places new and old through his eyes will undoubtedly have an impact on my photography. Stay tuned!
